Michigan Fingerstyle Guitar Society presents: An evening with Kyran Daniel featuring Yeman Al- Rawi and Nicholas Martin
MFGS has been presenting contemporary acoustic performances and workshops to audiences in Southeast Michigan since 2001. While new to us, Australian guitarist Kyran Daniel is a seasoned artist in the acoustic guitar world as he toured internationally with guitar legends such as Tommy Emmanuel and Kotaro Oshio when he was just 17 years old! In 2007, Kyran’s debut album ‘Per Se’ (released under Kieren Murphy) became a highly influential work in the fingerstyle guitar community. With those accomplishments behind him, Kyran was awarded a full scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music. Since 2017, Kyran has honed his skill set focusing on songwriting, production and studio work for some of Australia’s top artists. In 2022, he returned to his roots as a solo artist with sold-out concerts with his mentor Tommy Emmanuel.
YEMAN is an Iraqi-American 29-year-old acoustic fingerstyle guitarist based in Royal Oak, MI. Drawing on inspirations from his upbringing and influences from Tommy Emmanuel, Ritchie Blackmore, Mark Knopfler, amongst many others, he composes original fingerstyle guitar works. He has formerly opened for world-class guitarists such as Stefano Barone, Pino Forastiere, Antoine Dufour, Michael Chapdelaine, and Calum Graham himself. Pursuing a masters degree in Architectural Engineering and working in the design industry for the last decade has kept him away from the music scene but YEMAN is back at again and eager to perform in front of a Lansing crowd for the first time.
Nicholas Martin is a Michigan-based musician—guitarist, arranger, composer—who performs solo and collaborative projects. Winner of the SFCM Guitar Concerto Competition, he is an active concert artist, appearing as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral soloist across the country. Martin has most recently appeared as a soloist for the Mid Michigan Classical Guitar Society, SFCM Orchestra, and Michigan Guitar Society.
