Saxophonist & Composer, Diego Rivera will present the second world premiere performance of “Ofrenda” at the Urban Beat in his hometown of Lansing, MI on Saturday, March 16. Rivera is known for his distinctive sound that blends contemporary jazz with his Mexican heritage. Commissioned by Chamber Music America’s New Jazz Works Grant, “Ofrenda” is a musical illustration of a sacred Mexican tradition honors the memory lost loved ones. "Ofrenda" by Diego Rivera has been made possible with support from Chamber Music America’s New Jazz Works program funded through the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.
